#MerryChristmaths from MyMaths

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas – or should we say ChristMATHS? The MyMaths team are getting into the festive spirit and we’ve created a few fun activities for you and your class to have a go at this December.

3D Christmas decorations

Is your classroom display looking a bit bare? Spruce it up with some 3D Christmas decorations. Download the templates for a Christmas ornament (can your students work out which shape it is?) and a Christmas star. Don’t forget to take a look the 3D shape lesson and homework activities available on MyMaths too.

Christmas shoebox

You’ll find a great Christmas themed activity on MyMaths. Can your students follow the guidelines to successfully fill a charity Christmas shoebox? Log in to MyMaths and search “Christmas” to find the activity and set it to your students.

GCSE Christmas worksheets

We have a couple of Christmas worksheets for your GCSE students to try. Take a look at this one on problem solving, and this one on Venn diagrams.

What did my true love send to me?

Do your KS1 and KS2 students need to practise their times tables? Why not set them a few questions based on the 12 Days of Christmas? For example, if each drummer has 2 drumsticks and there are 12 drummers, how many drumsticks are there in total? There are 6 geese and each one lays 3 eggs. How many eggs are there?

Don’t forget about the homework tasks on times tables if you need some help.

Make your own wrapping paper

There’s often nothing better than a handmade present. How about going one step further and creating your own wrapping paper? Use the MyMaths tessellation tool and see what your students can come up with.

Don’t forget to tweet @MyMathsUK with all of your creations. We can’t wait to see them!

Merry Christmaths one and all!
