Safer Internet Day- ‘Let’s create a better internet together’
Nowadays, as the internet seeps into every aspect of school life it’s more important than ever to make sure that pupils are safe when surfing the web. So why not join your fellow teachers in schools all over the world and raise awareness on Safer Internet Day in your school?
The UK Safer Internet Centre is working hard to promote the responsible use of online technology and mobile phones and has an Awareness Centre, an E-Safety Helpline for professionals working with children, as well as a Hotline for reporting inappropriate online content. Their website has a range of advice and resources for young people, their parents and carers, and teachers, as well as research to help create a better internet.
Safer Internet Day focuses on the great creative things that young people are doing online, as well as raising awareness about e-safety.
You can register your support online and download a pack full of ideas to help you get involved, including activities, lesson plans and assembly ideas: http://www.saferinternet.org.uk/safer-internet-day/2014

And don’t forget that MyMaths is now available via the Puffin Academy app, which is a safe way to view the site using most tablet and mobile devices because it only allows whitelisted educational websites.
